Product description
Coated MAP is a controlled-release phosphate fertilizer in which each mono-ammonium phosphate granule is encapsulated by a polymer coating, slowing phosphorus fixation by soil minerals and extending nitrogen and phosphorus availability into the root zone over weeks.
Engineered for early-season crop establishment
Coated MAP is engineered for crops sensitive to early-season phosphorus fixation, particularly in calcareous or high-pH soils. The polymer coating slows the granule's reaction with soil minerals, keeping more phosphorus plant-available during root establishment.
Broad crop compatibility & application
Suitable for most field and row crops, especially corn, wheat, soybean and vegetables. Apply as a basal dressing or in a starter band at planting; the rate and method are determined by crop, soil P status and target yield.
Lower rates, same crop performance
Reduces the phosphate fertilizer rate needed to meet crop demand by cutting the share of applied P that is chemically fixed before uptake.
Specification
Available in several coating weights and release periods.
| Product | Specification | Total-N% | P2O5% | K2O% | Release period |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Coated MAP | 12-50-0 1 Month | 12 | 50 | – | 1 month |
| Coated MAP | 11-48-0 2 Months | 11 | 48 | – | 2 months |
| Coated MAP | 10-44-0 3 Months | 10 | 44 | – | 3 months |
Key usage scenarios
Where coated MAP delivers the most value.
Calcareous & high-pH soils
Keeps phosphorus available for longer where conventional MAP would be rapidly fixed into insoluble calcium phosphates.
Starter & band applications
Reduces the risk of seedling-root phosphate burn while sustaining early-season root development.
Row crops with long P demand windows
Matches phosphorus release with extended uptake periods in corn, soybean and vegetable rotations.
Environmentally sensitive areas
Lowers the share of applied phosphorus available for runoff loss into nearby waterways.
Advantages
Sustainability and productivity together, in one application.
Phosphorus fixation reduction
Slows the granule's contact with soil minerals, keeping more applied phosphorus in plant-available form.
Labor efficiency
A single basal or band application can cover the crop's early-season phosphorus demand.
Yield optimization
Synchronizes P and N supply with root development, supporting stronger early-season establishment.
Environmental safety
Lowers the share of applied phosphorus available for surface runoff, reducing waterway eutrophication risk.
Cost-effectiveness
Lowers long-term phosphorus input costs despite higher initial pricing, by reducing the fixed, unavailable fraction.
Sustainable productivity
Coated MAP merges sustainability with productivity, suited to modern resource-conscious farming under tightening fertilizer ordinances.
